    BLAC Politics

ABOUT US!

The mission of the Black Leadership and Action Coalition (BLAC) is to use the political process to shape public discourse and impact public policy uniquely from a Black perspective. We operate according to the principles and ideals laid out in the BLAC Manifesto, which serves as the foundation for our goal of creating a city, state, and nation that genuinely represents all people, no matter what they look like. Alongside our sister organization, TBI (The Black Institute), we believe ideals are made a reality through perseverance and action.

BLAC Drives Action

Raising Voices

We're dedicated to amplfing the voices of Black and Brown poeple. We organize and works tirelessly to impact policy in four crucial areas: Environmental Justice, Immigration Reform, Education, and Economic Reform. We believe we can only truly address the systemic barriers that hinder the progress and well-being of Black and brown communities through concrete, actionable policy changes.

Delivering Justice

We build power and deliver justice to communities of color and turn TBI’s policy solutions into functional law. We organize to empower, uplift, and champion the rights, dignity, and progress of Black and brown individuals across New York City and beyond. We recognize that our communities' historical and systemic injustices demand intentional, strategic, and bold action to redress disparities and dismantle the structures that perpetuate inequality.

Defining Objectives

Our Manifesto details our organizing priorities, electoral priorities, and the scope of our vision. In a world where the "Black Agenda" is often misunderstood, dismissed, or manipulated for political gain, BLAC strives to provide a unified voice and platform for the Black and brown communities. We acknowledge that the work ahead is immense, and the path to achieving our goals will be fraught with challenges.

OUR POLITICS

By endorsing candidates who share our values and vision, we strengthen the voice of Black and brown communities in the political sphere, ensuring that their concerns and needs are effectively represented and heard.

Elected officials have the authority to create, amend, or influence policies and legislation that can address systemic barriers and promote equity and justice for marginalized communities. Endorsing candidates committed to these goals increases the likelihood of policies that align with our objectives being enacted.

Endorsements serve as a rallying call for our communities, encouraging them to actively engage in the democratic process and vote for candidates who have their best interests at heart. By endorsing candidates, we empower our communities to take ownership of their political power and play a role in shaping their futures.
